    Ignition Switch Actuator Rod

I have a 1989 Wrangler YJ. For a while I was able to turn the key clockwise all the way to the stop, and it would start. Now I get nothing. The ignition switch on the column as well as the cylinder are fairly new. I had to replace the headlight dimmer switch which uses the same mounting...

    Ignition switch problem

I have a 1989 YJ. I recently had to change the hi-low headlamp switch on the steering column. Though successful, I now have a new problem. Now, when I engage the key in the ignition switch, I have to go all the way to the stop, before it engages the starter. Today, I had to practically...

1989 YJ intake / exhaust manifold question

I had a massive exhaust leak and am in the process of replacing the manifold(s) gasket. My question, since everything is clean and decked, should I use a "gasket maker" to ensure it doesn't leak, or once again just install the gasket dry? Thank you?

Engine starts easy but runs rough.

I have a 1989 YJ with a 4.2L engine. In the early morning , it starts easy and the RPM's come up right away. But after a minute, it idles so rough, it sounds like it is firing on only 4 cylinders. After it gets up to temp. (approx. 170-180), it runs fairly decent, starting out, and fine at...

    EXHAUST ISSUE

Does anyone know why my engine / exhaust is “spitting out” black water and smoke, and sticking on my driveway? It starts easy (89 yj), then runs rough until at 180 degrees, then runs great. But when stopping and restarting it starts hard! I am running 3.5 psi on fuel, and 11 degrees BTDC! HELP!!

Is the problem related to fuel flow?

That is a possibility. I will check it out. Lots of fumes in the cab.

Is the problem related to fuel flow?

I finally set the timing correctly on my 89 Wrangler 4.2L engine. It is an ATK rebuilt, with Clifford Performance intake/Weber carb/ and split headers. I milled the heads 0.60 , and added a Howard cam. I am also running MSD ignition. Now that it is timed, and runs great, the only issue I have...

    Timing

I am having an issue with starting my 4.2l It will turn over, then hesitate, then run. I just “milled”the head .0060, and installed a Howard cam. It has more compression, and that may contribute to the hesitation, But i think it is more timing that anything else. HELP!!

AX15 Bellhousing hydraulic line isolator/dust cover

Does anyone know where to buy the rubber "slave cylinder hydraulic line isolator/dust cover", that plugs the exit hole in the bell housing where the lines exit??? Ir is a small rubber grommet that keeps the lines from rubbing together and to keep debris out of the bell housing.

I just connected the 4.2L engine in my 1989 YJ to my AX15 transmission, and when lowering it onto the front mounts the new bushings won't align with the mount holes. The bushings are approximately 3/4 inch back (toward the firewall) from the mounts. I am not sure what the problem is, and need...

Converting the AX15 internal slave cylinder to external
