I was thinking of putting 33s with a 2.5 lift do I need to re-gear?

They're 15x8, I got them off amazon a few years back. I think Pro Comp is the brand.

I was thinking of putting 33s with a 2.5 lift do I need to re-gear?

My jeep has a similar set up (4.0, ax-15, 33" tires) and I'm on 4.56 gears. Huge difference and much more driveable IMO. Before I felt like the jeep would struggle to get to highway speeds and going up hill, but now I feel like the power is there.

Help with engine sounds and rattling

Oh yeah, totally get that. It's just been so long since I drove it that I forgot what sounds it normally made. Figured it would be good to get another person's thoughts just in case.

Help with engine sounds and rattling

Thanks a ton for the confirmation! They looked ok, but I need to take a closer look at the mounts and isolators to make sure none aren't falling apart or loose. As far as the oil pressure, it only drops at idle to about 30, otherwise it stays solid at about 50. 137k on the odometer. There...

Help with engine sounds and rattling

Thanks for the advice! I'll take a look at the exhaust system and see if I can find anything loose or anything. I've also updated the file permissions so you should be able to check them out now.

Help with engine sounds and rattling

Did a bit more troubleshooting, the tapping sounds in the engine bay go away under load. I can only can really hear it when idle. As for the rattle, doesn't seem to be exhaust related? I drove it around and it only seems to happen when letting off the clutch with no gas. When I give it gas I...

Help with engine sounds and rattling

My 94 4.0/manual has been sitting in the garage for just shy of a year and a half after my transmission went bad. Finally got around to getting it all back together with a new transmission from Novak and using the LuK clutch replacement kit. While I had it apart, I also replaced the rear main...

Any tips / tricks to install shift rod linkage for NP231? Also what type of screws for the shift boot area?

For anyone searching for help to re-install the np231 linkage. I used a set of 10" channel lock pliers (i think 12" might've been too big for the space i had to work with), similar to these: As for the shift boot, i just got a bunch of sheet metal screws of similar size from the local auto...

Any tips / tricks to install shift rod linkage for NP231? Also what type of screws for the shift boot area?

Recently had the transmission out to do some work and am now putting together. I'm stuck on getting the shift rod/linkage hooked back up. The transmission and skid plate are already installed and I'm having a helluva time getting that rod through the rubber bushing. I've done it before but can't...

Question about replacing rear main seal

Thanks! I'll give it a shot and keep an eye on it. (y)

Question about replacing rear main seal

I'm in the middle of replacing the rear main seal and have a question. I replaced both halves, making sure they were seated well. After torqueing down the bearing cap to 80ft-lbs, I noticed the edges of the seal kind of look pinched up a bit? Is this correct or did I mess up along the way? Some...

    D30 Build

Sorry just saw your post. The ox is working great so far, I have it running off a small paintball CO2 tank mounted on the bar behind the driver. If anything I could place the switch better, right now it's under the dash which is kind of a pain to get to. For cutting the track mount, I just used...

    D30 Build

How much of a lift do you have? I have a 2.5" lift/no body lift and did the Go-Fer-It tie rod flip and ended up with my drag link below my tie rod when my YJ was off the jack stands. So I flipped my drag link so it was inserted to the top of my pitman arm with another go-fer-it insert welded...

Thoughts on a Tie Rod Flip?

Hey folks, I've had a set of goferit tie rod flip inserts sitting in my garage for awhile and have been thinking of going through with it. I've read that it helps with reducing bump steer. Before committing, thought I'd ask and see if anyone has done this and what your thoughts/experiences...

    Can a Dana 30 handle a locker?

I have Yukon Chromo shafts in my D30 with an Ox Locker, currently on 33's. It's been working fine for me. If you plan on staying 31's, I think you'll be fine. Definitely consider ditching the CAD and going 1-piece on the passenger side.

Any thoughts on the Currie Antirock Sway bar on a YJ?

Yeah, I agree it's going to at least be better than not having a sway bar at all. I've decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on the anti-rock and install it hopefully soon. I'll post up the results in this thread as soon as I get it going and get some miles on them.

Any thoughts on the Currie Antirock Sway bar on a YJ?

My YJ has never had a sway bar and there are times when I wish it did, especially on the freeway. In planning to re-install the stock sway bar/disconnects I looked underneath and found that the bolts where the sway bar would connect on the steering bracket were broken clean off. So I'm at a...

Identifying plugs in engine bay, passenger-side

Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it! I can rest easy knowing that I didn't inadvertently misplace a connection or left something unplugged. I didn't realize that aftermarket AC didn't have to use the same lines. You're right. the 4x4 light doesn't work. I'll check on that and get...

Identifying plugs in engine bay, passenger-side

Ok so I'm just about done with the installing the fenders back on and putting the engine bay back in order. There are 3 open connections and I'm unsure of where they go. As luck would have it, my pictures don't show where they plug or if they were even plugged in before. The previous owner had...
