    Crankcase Position Sensor

Good deal. Hope it works well. If you can find the connector, you could swap to the 93+ sensor. You could also go to the 97+ sensor if you got a TJ connector. But that part you got should be good immediately. Makes sense on the engine. I have seen Hurley’s fancy thermostat housings. I feel...

    Crankcase Position Sensor

Going to correct you so your searches will yield better results, not to be a dick, I promise. Crankshaft position sensor. That said, nothing is out of the ordinary here. The single bolt tab is used on automatics. 2-bolt is for manuals. Round connector is used on 1991-1992. A flat inline...

2 Relays Mounted on Battery Tray

I found this to get started with. Probably not perfectly exact since it says for 2.5L. I haven’t found the same diagram for 4.2L yet. This is out of the 1990 FSM but should be the same. Looking closer is calls out which relays are for 4.2L so that should be the answer.

1993 YJ PCM Issues, why won’t a 1995 PCM work?

Are you sure the PCMs you have tried are for 2.5? Transmission generally doesn’t matter, but the engine is important. As long as engine is correct, they should work fine unless they’re defective.

    Michigan Detroit area mechanic suggestions

Agreed with above. Unless you simply have zero tools, zero workspace, and zero desire to learn or acquire tools and skills, run things by here before going to a shop. A shop will charge you the same rates they charge for the most complicated of car repairs and will be essentially overcharging...

    Headlight oddity

Never saw this thread until now. There is a circuit breaker inside the headlight switch. It's often not actually bad and is just being overloaded by poor wiring resistance that gets worse over the years. I always recommend pretty much everyone to install relays for their headlight circuits so...

Need a new clutch and help identifying transmission

You have an external slave AX15. I have run two clutches, Luk RepSet and Luk Pro Gold. Both are good and feel about the same. The gold is a little bit heavier on the foot but it’s super smooth. I have run a number of flywheels. I would not recommend Luk as batches of them within the last year...

    Performance camshaft for a 2.5

A cam can improve things but that alone isn’t going to bring a 112/235 HP/TQ engine or a 180/225 HP/TQ engine up to 300/300. Even strokers barely get up that high.

    Performance camshaft for a 2.5

There is no cam in the world that will make that 2.5L happy running 35” tires with 4.11 gears. Even the 4.0 doesn’t do very well with that setup and it has 50% more horsepower and torque. Regear it to 5.13 and consider stepping down the tires to 32” or so if you want it to perform decently.

Need help folks (new to Jeeps)

We haven’t been given much info to help you with. We know you’re swapping in a 5.3, we know you’re going to run 35’s, but you aside from “overlanding and light trails” we don’t really know what you want to do with it. You don’t need anything for overlanding and light trails. Are you going to...

    '95 Sahara, 1st YJ

Hoping to see good results from yours with that RTV. I have always wondered about that joint, but last time I did my RMS was with the engine out flipped upside down on a stand. I eyeballed those areas with the pan installed and it looked super tight, so I assumed all is fine there without RTV. I...

1994 Hunter Green SE “Back to Stock” Thread

I don’t get on here a lot anymore, but I guess I forgot to update that yes, I did install the locker. I installed it a few months ago.

At what point do you replace leaf springs?

Thanks. The 245s may work but that’s basically a 31” tall tire. Will be a little tight unless you add a body lift or small suspension lift. It’s tough with them being 8” wide; not a lot of tire sizes for 16” that are wide enough for a wheel that side and also not too tall for a YJ.

At what point do you replace leaf springs?

Stock size KO3 - 215/75R15. Yes, the springs have a very small arch to them just like stock.

At what point do you replace leaf springs?

I had several lifts over the years. That photo was OME 2.5" suspension with 31x10.5R15 tires. It looked good but I was tired of dealing with lifted suspension and wanted to be back to original, so I bought the Husky/Dayton springs. No complaints. Only thing I would do differently if I were doing...

At what point do you replace leaf springs?

I’m not who you commented towards but I ended up putting stock height springs from Dayton and they worked great. They are right at stock height. The ones that match OEM part numbers are the ones to stick to, not HD or anything else.

The Slow Demise of the Manual Transmission

I’d want an 05+. I had a Frontier from the same generation as the 05+ X and it was a great platform. The problem for me with that truck was the PO turned it into a lemon before I got it, and so after a little bit I needed out of that one. But I loved the platform otherwise and would really like...

The Slow Demise of the Manual Transmission

It’s an utter shame what the government and manufacturers have done to manual transmissions. It’s an endless cycle of the EPA mandating targets that manufacturers have to hit. Manufacturers can’t hit those targets with manuals, so they obviously prefer automatics. They still sell manuals...

How hot should my heater be?

The heater should get hot regardless of thermostat status. And when cooling properly, Lower radiator hose should be warm but not really hot because the radiator should have removed much of the heat.
