    Engine replacement

This begs a question. I'm running 31s with 4.88 gears. How much performance loss will there be by moving to 33s? Specifically to 33x12.5s as 33x10.5s are considerably more expensive. I've been thinking about getting a set of basically offroad dedicated 33's, but there are always big mountain...

Scored some cheap uppers off the Marketplace today

25 bucks with the frames I was screwing around fixing one of the Zipper pulls , and and was thinking 🤔 "These must be some cheap Chinese off brand, cuz there's no tag." Then I looked a little closer not too bad for a 28 year old pair of windows .

Nothing wrong with the fuel pump

I'm just paranoid about getting stranded up in the mountains. So I decided to cut an access panel in the floor. I still have the pump that was in the Jeep when I bought it, it was still working fine. I figure I'll find a place to stash the spare pump and if I ever need it, it should be an easy...

    Best floor pan patch panels?

I pulled the trigger on the Classic Enterprise pan. $70 delivered and 100% made in the USA. I'll sure support an American small business if I can. We'll see about quality and service, but I'm optimistic. I hope mine comes out as nice as yours did.

    Best floor pan patch panels?

I'm leaning toward a pan from classic enterprises. Not sure of the quality or fitment but they are made in the USA and that means a lot to me. https://www.classicent.com/jeep/

    Best floor pan patch panels?

I have a little rust in the driver's floor pan and was thinking about ordering a repair panel. The rust us minimal and is directly related to the carpet staying wet. Plan is to patch the rust and spray raptor liner in the front half of the pan. Jeeps probably shouldn't have carpet. Who has...

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

That's weird, number 4 sure looks like it was burning just about perfect. You might pop the new plugs our and look at them (just to see if they're stll ok) Double check firing order? I would quadruple check every vacuum line.

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

Pull the plug and look at it. In fact, pull them all and look at them Look inside the distributor cap make sure everything looks good in there. Inspect/test the plug wires. After that, a spark test and a compression test ate probably in order.

    Engine replacement

Have you considered regearing? I put 4.88 gears in my 4banger jeep and am quite happy with the results. Running 31x10.5s it will drive 85mph, no problem. Cheaper & easier than an engine swap.

At what point do you replace leaf springs?

I have no idea what all those numbers mean. I got squishy springs. squishy springs=Jeep hauls ass on dirt roads, Russ doesn't spill beer 😁🍺

At what point do you replace leaf springs?

Not for nothin, but do you really need/want heavy duty springs? The OME light load springs on my yj ride so nice, it amazes me. They don't even squat much with the hard top on. It's a jeep, what are you hauling to justify heavy duty springs? They will likely make it ride rough as hell. Just my...

    Timing

Ideally, throw a timing light on it, or power time it like Gilaguy23 suggested. Double check every nut bolt and vacuum line. Are the ignition components all in excellent condition?? Valves all set correctly? There a lot of variables when doing a head/cam swap. Just kinda throwin' darts at the...

    Jeepcables.com install tips

No tips really. Clean all the ground connections as well as possible. Use new star washers, double check that everything is tight. Take your time, do one cable at a time. Looks like a really nice kit. This reminds me, I should start building new cables for my jeep.

Thinkin' pretty hard about some TJ rear fender flares

Turns out you can install TJ front flares without cutting the panels too. Same deal, I just used a razor knife to trim the back of the flares smooth. After they're smooth, just clamp them in place and mark where to dill. Screw them in place and squirt a little black on any exposed panels that...

Any suggestions on repainting the roof rack?

Silver, metallic gray, or gun metal might look cool. Body color might also look good. White or other colors.... maybe, with some complementing accents, but that could easily go [very] sideways. I vote for semi-flat black.

Thinkin' pretty hard about some TJ rear fender flares

Well, the left fender flare is installed. I didn't trim any of my quarter panel (yet). On the back of the TJ flare, I cut the lip and alignment tabs flush with a sharp razor knife. That allowed me to move the flare wherever I thought it fit best. I clamped it on where it looked good and marked...

Thinkin' pretty hard about some TJ rear fender flares

I stopped at a body shop that happens to be owned by jeep people. The owner gave me some great ideas on how to make them fit without chopping up my tub any more than necessary. In fact they should fit with only minimal trimming to the wheel wells. I'm stoked.
