I had a cycling vibration at idle on my 2.4 with a steady rpm and changing the front harmonic dampener solved it. As for the low rpms I found a spray can of Gumout solves a lot of problems.

I'm guessing you have it together again but if not try spraying carb cleaner or compressed air into that hole and see where it comes out inside the carb.

I did a quick k look at carbs for the YJ and I didn't see anything like that one. I think you need to identify it and hopefully find what that port is. I'm still thinking a stuck float. But you'll need to find gaskets to do some troubleshooting.

Several times over the years I've found a bad cable going to the starter with the strands all corroded inside the casing. If you have a set of jumper cables you can try and use them to bypass the others to the starter but be very careful not to short out anything.

Sounds like a dead battery and the stater solenoid chattering. Can you jump start it with cables? How bright are the headlights when trying to start it?
