First indication or heater core leak?

Shal I paint the new aluminum radiator or not? My new radiator and heater core came in and I'm interested in what others have done. I've read a light coating of enamel paint is all it needs but many owners just leave it bare metal. What are your thoughts? Cheers!

    89 YJ has no spark

When you first turn on the ignition key to "RUN" do you see the Check Engine light illuminate? If so, can you do a check for codes to see if there's any faults?

    Battery Cables and Ground Upgrades

I cut open the cables on my tractor which looked great but only had one wire strand in the white corrosion powder hiding inside the insulation. I like the single big fuse vice the two smaller automotive fuses. I only have one LED light bar up front so I'll go for the 4 gauge size.

1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ 4.0 (Manual) – Exhaust Recommendations

I have a 92 with the 2.4L and replaced my exhaust with a Walker brand from RockAuto. I like the sound and the fitment but was disappointed with the downpipe construction. I think they flattened the pipe too much to weld the O2 sensor and there was a lot of MIG wire and weld splatter inside...

    Roof racks

I've never seen this before but just watched a video from a young guy who absolutely loaded up his YJ with a roof rack and tent and enough supplies to travel the wilderness for a month. And to think I only go grocery shopping down the road.

First indication or heater core leak?

The vinegar treatment overnight on the airflow dampers and dividers worked well. The rust and crust easily brushed off. The more I read about replacement aluminum core, aftermarket heaters and radiators, the more questions and concerns I have. Some report they're great while others say they...

First indication or heater core leak?

I know I'm not the first to find this. As expected, the heater core leaked. I cleaned out the fan plenum box. The divider plates are a mess with all the foam coming off and a little rust. I have the the plates out now soaking in vinegar to remove the rust. I'll paint them and apply new...

First indication or heater core leak?

The radiator and fan housing was easy, the heater box took a little longer than the youtube videos I watched.

How hot should my heater be?

I've probably changed five T-stats in my life because they stuck - wide open. I've never had one fail in the closed position. For me, the first indication was the heat and engine temp gauge was very slow to rise and never any over heating.

Replacing ignition key tumbler and buzzer switch

Well, the key switch works well but now I'm having problems with the Key Release Lever. I need to raise it to turn the key to Start and move it up or down to get the key into the Off position and remove the key. Maybe it became unhinged or the spring popped off or broke. No telling from the...

First indication or heater core leak?

It's been a month since I drove my '92 YJ but I did back it out of the shop a few times and let it run for 15 minutes or so to warm up and get the juices flowing. Twice now, I've found this small puddle on the passenger side floor. Never seen this before so it's something new, something...

    1990 2.5L Wrangler Exhaust Issue

Add new spark plugs, wires and distributor cap to the list, unless they've been recently changed. I'm thinking it's either fuel or fire, and one isn't working to cause the bucking.

Rebuilt 4.0 engine doesn't make enough vacuum

Basic questions. Did you thoroughly bleed all four brake cylinders starting with the furthest one (right rear) and working forward? Any leaks? I've had brake problems and went to a dirt road, built up a little forward speed and stood on the brake pedal to see if all four wheels locked up...

Replacing ignition key tumbler and buzzer switch

Problem identified, solution.. well.. Tools are returned so I'll just deal with it for now. I found the key release lever will not spring to the full up position which allows the key to rotate to the run/start position. If it barely touch the lever it pops up so I can fully rotate the key to...

Replacing ignition key tumbler and buzzer switch

Update about the buzzer switch. It only controls the buzzer and has nothing to do with the ignition circuit. I checked the wire harness connecter along the column and all was good. Jiggled the key a few more times and got it to rotate more into the run and start positions. For some...

Replacing ignition key tumbler and buzzer switch

Hey all, time to ask for a little help. I purchased a lock tumbler set for my '92YJ and changed out the ignition key first. Pretty straight forward by removing the steering wheel, goofy snap ring, turn signal switch and prying the key tumbler out. This is a non-tilt steering column. The...
