I have a lot of play in my steering wheel, and cant determine if it is the steering box or the sterring column. I am prelacing the steering box already, but going to do the steering column too, but cant figure out what bearings to replace, (i think it should be all of them) but kind of swinging in the dark here. is it just one bearing in the top of the column and one at the end? Its a non tilt, manumal, power steering column. The wheel has no up and down play, it just turns alot left or right, before the steering engages. Any help of guidence is apperciated.

Check all the steering linkages. Tie rod end and ball joints. Also steering shaft u joints. The bottom steering column bearing is the one that goes bad the most.

Yes, there is a lower bearing and another one on the upper/midshaft area that will require some work to get to to replace. Also, be careful when putting it back together, you can push that upper bearing out of seat and will have to take it apart again to reset it. ytradio is right, check all the easier things first, then replace the lower one before you go into a full rebuild.
