Hi, before I take my seats apart, is there a way to 'bring' the backrest upright on the front seats?. Mine have a very laid back position by default and it's not really conducive to driving, I prefer a more upright seat position but don't know how to straighted the backrest upright or closer to upright. Is it even possible? Is it hard work? Does it mean welding or stuff? Many thanks folks.

That is just how they are. You can put washers under the seat bracket or similar. Personally I like the lean because they positioned the seat really close to the steering wheel, so leaning back a tad gives me the illusion of sitting further back, which I wish I could do.

Also see if you have original YJ seats. Lots of retrofits out there.

Mega delayed reply! Sorry. Yes original saharas from 1989.
They're comfy but they lean back all the way to 1924.
Not a serious issue but sometimes I just want that firm upright vibe?? Had an accident last year and my spine at C6 and C7 give me grief.
Cheers!
