I have a 1995 Rio Grande with 2.5 eng, stock. Would like to put 31" tires on it. Will the tires rub or do I need a lift kit?

You won't have much clearance and will rub if you go off road. You might be able to get away with a shackle lift adding an inch to the front and back. I have a 2.5" lift with 31s in my profile picture.

I run 31-10.5-15s 2.5 inch spring lift on my 89. I have a slight rub on the rear of the springs at full steering. Hasn’t been an issue in 29yrs. I have 4:10 gears with a 4.2. I don’t know if you need to change gears on your 2.5.

I would opt for the cheap route, about $150, and do NO more than a 1" body lift.
They're still going to rub a little at full articulation, but not as bad.
I have a 2-1/2" spring lift and 1" body lift, running 32-11.50s.
Did my body lift just for appearance.
When you go spring lifting, it opens a can of worms and it starts getting expensive.
