Fast forward 5 years and it was an exactly the same place It was in the pics until about two weeks ago. My daughter and I were working on it in a series of events in life have hindered all of that. She's getting married in October and would like to go away in the Jeep so we are going to put it back together with the stock green tub. I did pick up a hard top for it. We will paint it later. In the meantime, we have the engine bolted up along with the transmission and transfer case. I'm digging through all of the boxes from the previous owner and discovering what I don't have. I did opt to put the sway bar back on the front, but I am leaving the traction bars off. I went with an upgraded stage two clutch for the transmission simply because someone locally had one they were trying to get rid of that they never used. It was cheaper than the new LUK from rock auto.

I knew the frame paint was not UV resistant and had it all covered with a tarp, but four years of weathering eliminated the tarp and it has lost its shine. Stay tuned.

you have done a" REMARKABLE" job. i would stick with the org. motor if serviceable. you dont know what you get in a reman job. a company called "FASTENAL" had a great select of bolts. be sure and keep us guys informed as you go along. good luck

Thank you sir... the motor is a 2.5. I picked up with fairly low mileage from a daily driver from an older gentleman. Once he was finished with the jeep, his granddaughter wanted it, but he upgraded her to an in-line six. It's a well maintained motor. I hope to crank it soon. I do plan to mock everything up before I put the tub on and see if she will run!!!

This may be the first of several questions in regard to putting the wiring harness on Rio.... It was literally in several boxes when I got everything. I have this connector that comes off of the injector harness. Can someone identify it for me? The blue half is a two prong piece that does unplugged from the gray.

Well... it's apparently an addiction.... I ran across this one locally. It has a brand new transmission and clutch, but a very tired 2.5. I hope to find a used one instead of rebuilding this one... we shall see. Oil pressure is only about 20 psi at 2500 RPM.

Disappointment.....
All new seals in the front axle and I have a leak on the passenger side front axle🤦🏻‍♂️.... any words of advice

Filled it too high if you filled to the fill hole. If you did, suck some fluid back out. The spec is 1/2” below the fill hole. I did the same on a fully rebuilt axle with brand new Spicer seals and it also leaked. Sucked out fluid to the right amount and it stopped.

That's possible.... didn't know. I was beginning to wonder if they had shipped me the seal for a solid axle... which is still possible i suppose. Not a lot leaked out at this point in a 36 hour period... it may have leaked down enough. Thanks again.

If the seal fit the CAD seal spot, then you got the right seal. The seal for a 1 piece axle is way different and wouldn’t have worked at all.

It will leak slowly. I doubt it leaked out enough yet. Mine was still doing it after a week or so. then I saw the statement in the FSM and so I pulled some fluid out. All good since.

A successful test run on the 2.5 today. I mocked up the wiring harness, poured a few gallons in the tank and she busted off pretty shortly! Bad news is I inspected my tub in regard to body mount bolts. A few of them will have to be cut out and repaired being that they were broken off in the dismantling. I had no idea being that I bought it in boxes!!! The work continues

New fuel lines/pump in place. New brake lines, drums, shoes, rotors, calipers etc. repaired body mounts where PO broke bolts and ready to put the tub on frame. New body mounts kit with new hardware in place. Getting oh so close.
