    Gearbox oil

About 10 years ago I called Royal Purple about the GL 4/5 debate and they reassured me their proprietary formula will work. Much of what you read in comparison test comes from the competition. Also, most of any chemical reactions with soft metals occurs at temps approaching 500+ degrees...

    Clutch or Master Cylinder/Slave?

I missed that part about the redline fluid. IF you transmission is level it should take about 3.3 quarts. There's a bolt hole the fluid will come out when it's full. If your YJ has a lift kit or transmission drop kit that level will be close but I don't what to say about performance or fluid...

    Clutch or Master Cylinder/Slave?

Also check the transmission fluid level. It may be low or never changed at all. The synchros are made of a sacrificial metal that wears out long before the gears do and 2nd gear is often the first on to wear out. In several different vehicles, I've had to start the engine while in first...

    Clutch or Master Cylinder/Slave?

Reverse always crunches since there's no synchro for it. I always go into 2nd to stop any rotation then quickly into reverse. That usually does the trick. Try any gear other than 5th because there's a lock out which prevents you from going from 5th into reverse by mistake when driving.

    Thinking about a YJ

I wouldn't drive it with that rust. Patch kits are available, do you have a welder? If you're paying someone else for all the repairs I'd recommend finding a better YJ that needs less work.

EAG Military Star 2 Tubular Door

I'm guessing you'll need to unplug the interior courtesy light so it doesn't stay on all the time?

    Fuse box questions

Those are female spade connectors. You can find almost all answers in the factory service manuals find in the resources section in this forum. I think the 94 year will work for the 92. https://wrangleryjforum.com/forums/yj-resources.121/

    Need Help Reinstalling Rear Driveshaft

When removing the U-joint did any of the cups fall off and possibly lose some of the roller needle bearings? It's also easy for then to fall flat inside the end of the cap.

Is there anything wrong with this fuel injector?

Check the ohms across the connector on the injector. I think it should read about 1.5 ohms. If you get zero (open circuit) then the internal coil is bad.

If your transmission skid plate bolts break, then what?

I forgot about that. That's what I was originally going to do but when I got the pan removed I found I didn't have enough steel to attach some of them. Two where really badly rusted and the others were mostly ok. I had to cut out all the rust.

In need of lift and tire advice

The previous owner put 31x10.5 on my 2.5 with stock gears and I can do 70 mph (actual) on a flat highway all day long.

If your transmission skid plate bolts break, then what?

How does the bottom of the frame look around each bolt hole? Mine was rusted and thin from the inside around each bolt. The sides and top of the frame tube was still very good so I bought a channel shaped repair kit and welded it in. Others cut out a 2x3inch section around each bolt and make...

This happens and here's the fix. This is what you're looking for inside the hole when the reverse switch is removed.

    Help with windshield frame hinges

One more comment. I found if you keep the 10 Torx screws loose, properly fit the hard top into position, then tighten the screws, it's makes life a whole lot easier than trying to squeeze the hard top gaskets and corners into place. Good tight fit now.

Idiot lights on dash power source

Did you install new LED bulbs to replace the original lights? I found most LED's only work when inserted in one direction. If the LED doesn't light up just pull it out, rotate it half a turn, and push it back in. That worked for me.

    Help with windshield frame hinges

I'll put this here since it's on topic. I installed a new lower windshield cowl gasket yesterday and and have a few tips and found a few hidden treasures. While trying to remove the 10 Torx screws from the roll bar and lower flat plate I had five give a loud pop as they broke loose (not broke...

Just for fun, pull out the relays by the battery box, one at a time, and clean all the contact blades and slots, then reinstall them.

Should I get a hard top or a soft top?

My YJ only came with the half doors and no top when I bought it and I found some good deals on both a hard top and two full doors, thinking it may be better in winter or rainy days. I've since found that removing and installing the hard top is not a one person job unless you have an overhead...
