1994 Hunter Green SE “Back to Stock” Thread

I don’t know why, but my YJ specifically has always been a pain when it comes to aftermarket stuff fitting properly. There is ALWAYS some snag. In this case, I am talking about the exhaust. The history of my exhaust is as follows: July 2013 - Bought the YJ, with all factory original exhaust...

    Master Slave Cylinder Assembly Issues

Having to push down is normal, there is a spring inside the slave cylinder which is what maintains constant pressure on the throwout bearing so that it rides the pressure plate consistently and the bearing face doesn't skip on the pressure plate fingers. A lot of people think the bearing pulls...

    Master Slave Cylinder Assembly Issues

That is a frustrating issue. I haven't used Dorman or Duralast but I have used the PowerTorque one that Oreilly sells and I had to replace them about once a year under warranty. On the third one the pedal got stuck at the floor. I bought a "Mopar" (not sure if it was really Mopar and installed...

92 YJ stiff rear axle after replacing bearing, locking ring and seal

Can you post more photos of the axle as a whole? And some photos of the spring and shock mounts? It’s definitely not a Dana 35, could be a D44 or D60.

So, the crown plate is designed slightly differently, with the welded mount being longer (so it goes across more of the plate), making it difficult to eyeball a measurement. So it could just be me moving my head in a way that makes me want to see a smaller measurement, but I seem to be getting...

Thanks for this! I’m going to compare in a bit and see. Definitely possible the Crowns are off. Based on appearance, the sway bar links don’t seem off by enough to cause this issue. At least not by themselves. I feel like it has to be the spring plates, which is why I started by buying used OEM...

Unfortunately not, they will hit the tie rod in that orientation. I would like to get some disconnects, but I haven't found many in stock length. I want to get some JKS quicker disconnects eventually, but not going to deal with it at the moment.

1994 Hunter Green SE “Back to Stock” Thread

My thread is going to be pretty boring at this point, not that it was ever that exciting. I mostly wrote up a punchlist that I am working through for all the little issues. KO3s are ordered. I went with the 215s, mostly to keep it stock and to save some weight and harshness. The 215s are...

    AX15 Manufacturing Date

the transmission is out of a TJ based on its shifter. How specific of a year do you need to know? I don't think they changed at all from 1997-1999.

92 YJ stiff rear axle after replacing bearing, locking ring and seal

Someone swapped your rear axle from one that was originally installed in a 1987-1989 YJ. I wonder if the new bearing is improper tolerance or something? Did you have trouble getting the nuts threaded on? As in, did the studs stick out far enough through the retainer plate to be easy to thread on?

    AX15 Manufacturing Date

Never mind, it’s a TJ transmission because of the shifter. YJ has the straight shifter base, TJ uses the curved base. So it’s a 97-99. I don’t think anything changed in that year range, so you’re probably good to buy something for that time frame.

    AX15 Manufacturing Date

Did they list it for a TJ or a YJ? I can tell it's not out of an XJ. Any pics of the transfer case behind it? I'm assuming you got them together as a pair.

    Exhaust geometry problems

Gonna watch how this one goes. I can’t really help but I am curious how your muffler and curved part of the tailpipe sits. I have no transfer case drop, all stock engine mounting, and my exhaust results have been pretty stupid. A full suite of Walker products has the tailpipe basically...

    '95 Sahara, 1st YJ

Yeah, I just wonder why it’s not right. Obviously it had to come from the factory set up in some way or another. Not for the wheel you run but the tire carrier is the same dimension in all years best I can tell, so it seems like it should be pretty easy to get right since that was a TJ tire and...

It’s been storming all week, so I didn’t take the Jeep out on the streets until today. I drove it to get some gas (ethanol free from Walmart), and then drove it to pick up takeout. Overall, I would describe the handling and overall driving experience as good, not great. Still a lot of little...

    '95 Sahara, 1st YJ

Backspacing is less on 15x7, it is 5.25”. However, I am not using a 15x7 spare at the moment, I’m using a 15x6 which is also 5.25”, but the tire bulge from the narrow rim is why the 1.22” bumpers are used. 30x9.5 on the 15x7 wheel is not snug enough on the 1.22” bumpers, and it is way too tight...

    '95 Sahara, 1st YJ

Very strange. The parts manuals only offer 1.22 and 1.62 in the early years, I would assume surely 1.62 is the only one even remotely close to fitting… Maybe need a set of 1.22’s? eBay will have them.

Lol, yeah, getting close. Hopefully the brakes work well after some bleeding. Once that is the case, I won’t really have any qualms about driving it. Definitely feels good to drive it again, especially while not handling like complete garbage. I had a number of things contributing to that, but...

Registration is renewed, so I can now hit the streets whenever I feel like it. That pretty much means as soon as the brakes are bled and working reliably enough.

Little bit more progress made. The guy who I bought the axles from had a lift on his YJ, something around 4" I believe. As such, the drag link was lengthened to center his steering wheel. Of course, when you go back to a stock rig with the same linkage, it's too long. Not wanting to completely...
