    AX15 Bellhousing isolator

I recently removed the Peugeot transmission and bought an (used) AX15 to replace it. The transmission is in very good condition for it's age, but is missing the bellhousing "Rubber" isolator grommet that protects the hydraulic lines exiting from the internal slave cylinder. Would anyone know...

    Throwout bearing replacement

I have been watching videos on you tube about replacing the throw out bearing on an 89 YJ with an AX15 transmission. The videos always show the replacement being done by removing the transmission/transfer case drive shafts, skid plate, shifter, etc. And, during the videos, the mechanic's...

    4.2l timing

Thanks. I followed the Howard Cam break in procedure. Two 10 minute run in's at 2500 RPM,, with a cool down interval in between. It went well, and now the engine is easy to start, and smooth running. Now I have to face a new problem. The new throw out bearing, that won't engage on an AX15...

    4.2l timing

I turned the engine over until the distributor was 180 degrees out. There was no noticeable shot of air from the #1 Cyl. I tapped the starter again, and got a large volume of air back at the 180 mark. Turns out I was on #1TDC, but the distributor was so retarded, that I had to pull it and...

    4.2l timing

Install new cam and mill the heads.

It's a new cam. Came with everything, including new shorter pushrods. And you are right, it is not advertised. I called Larry to get his suggestions on increased performance, even though I was relatively happy with the 258 intake/Weber/Header kit from them. Larry advised me that the delivery...

Install new cam and mill the heads.

Thanks Thanks for the help . I installed this rebuilt ATK engine about 2500 miles ago, and aside from the normal disassembly/reassembly, the engine went in fairly straight forward. I am weighing that against tearing down the whole front of the Jeep? I'll have to give it more thought I guess.

Install new cam and mill the heads.

I need some advice on my 89 4.2L engine. I am getting ready to install a Clifford Performance Camshaft, new valves, springs, etc. , and mill the head .60 over. My question is, " Will it be easier to pull the engine and replace the cam, do the head work, etc., do the change with the engine...
