For anyone reading this thread, please do not "pull" any brackets out of they way. The system is designed so that everything can be removed without bending or breaking things. OP, please download a service manual PDF and read it for tasks like removing the transmission pan, your YJ will last...

Should be able to. I'm only drawing a few amps off a 12V lead, to charge a phone and a few other devices ... nothing more intense than a USB cigarette lighter adapter.

Well, yes and no. I have pulled the ashtray and am adding power ports. This is the set of ports and this is what I'm going to use to mount it. Figuring it out as I go. Power is right there to use so seemed logical.

I do. The cupholders are quality steel, the accessory dash bar is aircraft aluminum. Well made. I bet the cupholders will last longer than the Jeep.

Same, I used channel lock pliers to apply proper directional force to seat the linkage in the bushing.

Update, I was able to get the transfer case out and install the SYE. Ended up coming in from the top (removed the shift plate). Easy to get to the top 2 bolts that way. Thanks all!

That's a lot lower than I had thought to drop the Tcase / transmission ... will give it a try. I have a 5 inch ratcheting 9/16 wrench and just picked up some half-moon wrenches too.

Is that a thing I can do without messing up the shift linkage? That seems like it would be worth exploring, I spent 10 minutes looking up into the underside of that boot today ...

How the @#$! do you remove the top driver-side nut from the transfer case? I am all prepped to install my SYE from Tom Woods ... driveshafts out (rear) or disconnected (front), vent hose disconnected, speedo assembly out, vacuum connection removed ... supporting the transmission w/ a jack and...
