Hey y'all,

I've had my YJ for a little bit and its mostly an around town rig and my wife drives it when the weathers nice. I was messing around with it today and shifting it in to 4wd, which we never use it for, and its going into 4hi easily, the neutral, but its not shifting into 4lo.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

Probably need to adjust the shifter linkage. Most likely you need to loosen the linkage from the arm on the transfer case, pull the arm all the way forward for 4L, put the linkage into the 4L position, and then tighten the linkage up. If you go too far, then you might screw it up the other direction and make it hard to get 2H fully. So you may need to make a few adjustments to find the happy medium.

If it isn’t linkage and won’t grab 4L regardless, you’ll probably need to pull the transfer case and dig in to see what’s wrong.
