I just bought this YJ, and noticed that this plug is not plugged in anywhere. Can anyone help me identify what it is and where it is supposed to go?

I posted elsewhere and was told it was for AC. I don’t have AC so it dangles.View attachment 120573
That's odd, I wasliterally

My temp sensor works without that. Does yours? I would assume not but curious. The plot thickens! I don't have ac either so maybe that's correct and it stays taped up. I've got a temp sensor on the front of my block with nothing attached to it so I assumed it might be this cable. Now I wonder why there is a temp sensor with nothing plugged in haha.
Well I'm quite new to Jeeps so I can say that the temp gauge on the dash works fine I guess cos it's wired to the little sensor at the back of the block not this front one. Just seems pretty odd to have it there sitting with an open socket and not doing anything. Maybe I'm overthinking itMy temp sensor works without that. Does yours? I would assume not but curious.
100% agree! Someone on another forum said, “that’s how the wiring harness is.”Well I'm quite new to Jeeps so I can say that the temp gauge on the dash works fine I guess cos it's wired to the little sensor at the back of the block not this front one. Lol!Haha, classic Jeep humour. No worries, I took it to a guy with a bunch of wrecked Jeeps near me and he said it's there because some PO has replaced the block it's connected to with a newer version than the 1988 original and it's prebored for that newer sensor. The PO bought the sensor and filled the hole more than likely. So its a dead sensor and correctly so. The rear one is the 'real' one for a 1988. All good! I shall ignore it and go back to my cursed backfire! Starting with a new fuel filter which looks like it came off the titanic complete with barnacles.

Air conditioner drier. Same plug as in the rest of the posts, just missing the protective black cover.IView attachment 120874 also have a plug that i dont know where it goes
I'm keeping it now, for that reason. Next person might need it. CheersAgreed with Superbird, a lot of people become obsessed with deleting things because they don't like the dangling plug but after a while, I don't see the point. Could sell the Jeep to the next guy and he wants to add factory controlled AC....now he's hosed.
You can delete it as the wiring serves no purpose, but I'd say just leave it.
