hi all im new here, ive built jeeps over the years but never removed the roll bar with the torx bolts, i have a build sitting here and want to remove the roll bar to paint it and bedliner the floor, is there an easy way to remove the torx bolts? so far we got one out and snapped the bit on the second, we also cant seem to get the bolts out that connect the windshield tubes to the main hoop even tried a pipe wrench on the bolt head

Spray the bolts with pb blaster, wait overnight and then try to take them off. If this does not work apply heat….once you have them out replace with conventional bolts

body is off on a cart was trying to avoid the torch , soaking has done nothing, the upper tubes i wouldnt even know where to heat em

On the ones that stripped, I angle ground flats into the sides of the bolts and used crescent wrenches to get them out. Worked fine.

not stripped just wont come loose , dont want to keep snapping t45 bits lol
Didn’t say you stripped them, I said when I did. It’s the same result, inability to remove the bolt. I ground in flats and removed with a crescent wrench as my solution.

Also, get better bits and make damn sure they’re the right size and not too small before cranking down on the bolts.

Was there room for a full size angle grinder? Or did you use a dremel? There’s not much space in the back
I only used a full size 4.5” angle grinder, but I was lucky that the two roll bar bolts between the bar and tub on the rear came out. All the rest of them were easy to get to. Would probably have to get creative with a dremel to get the ones between the rear bar and tub rail. I lucked out.
