Parking Brake Query

Hi all
My parking brake gave up on me and it was the rear right hand side cable had snapped ( I have a LHD here in the UK so it's the rear passenger side)

I fitted the new cable to the drum brake and hooked it up to the chassis per original hook.

However, when I came to hooking the cable to the adjuster, I needed to almost totally wind the adjuster to the end of its run to hook the bullet end of the cable to it.
I followed instructions and technically it works - far better than it ever did- excellent.

But I'm concerned 'cos if you look at the photo of the finished job, the rear right (shiny) cable is way shorter than the older right hand cable??
This pic is with the parking brake on and its only pulling the rear right cable. The rear left side cable looks totally untouched.

What have I done wrong?
Shouldn't it pull both cables evenly?
Am I being dumb and overlooked something really obvious?

The p -brake works much better than before it snapped, with a really nice 'pedal press' engaging much better than before, but it seems biased to the rear right.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Ta.

Those cables stretch a lot, especially after +30 years of use. What you see looks normal to me after changing only one cable. It's typical for that equalizer connector to be angled like that.

Ok. that's good to know. Thanks. I'll probably order the driver side cable too just to be safest and it'll probably be the same length as the newer one and even it all out. They're a bit fussy over here on the MOT test and will fail it on only having one e-brake working if I leave it.
