Oil filter blocked by a stud?

Got my new block back and this little shit is in the oil filter housing. Any ideas to get it out?

Just grab it with pliers and pull. . I don't recall ever seeing one. I see other photos have it so it must be needed

Well I just found out it's an oil filter adapter guide pin to keep the adapter straight if you want a vertical filter. I have a screw on filter so it's not needed.
