Others may correct me and previous owners may have made a change to what you see but typically the 2.5L came with the AX-5 5-speed and the 4.0L came with with the AX-15 5-speed.
Here is a picture of the right side of my AX-5 and you'll see two Torx screw heads next to the reverse wire connector on the iron center plate. I believe the AX-15 has three Torx screws.

An easy way to remove the 2 top bolts on the ax5, is after i removed the gear shift i removed the big plate cover on the trans hump and got to the bolts with a 2 ft fence pipe ,,,, just watch your fingers while you also hold the extension
