Lockless half doors

Saw this post on FB and I'm trying to find more about this option. Did a pretty Google and AI base searches but still came up with nothing.

Maybe someone here has more info on this unicorn type option.

All half doors were lockless until around 1989 or 1990. I forget exactly when they started adding locks. I would prefer lockless myself because locks on half doors are stupid and pointless. Unfortunately though, parts are now unobtainable because you need parts for an only 3-4 year span vs all year of YJs or even TJs.

Door handles are the biggest offender because no one makes the lockless version and while I haven’t tried nor do I know anyone that has tried (due to rarity), I’m pretty sure you can’t just install the lock version onto a lockless half door.

Both Quadratec and Amazon sell them with the locks and the description on both sites state that they are compatible with Jeep Wrangler YJ 1987-1995, and TJ's 1997-2006. I think for 12 bucks each, I'd buy one and give it a try.

Not that it has anything to do with what you're doing, but my 93 half doors have the locks and I just had to repair the outside exterior handle on the driver's side that came loose. While I had it all apart, I cleaned and lubed everything. By the way, I don't use the locks.
