So I changed the timing chain and gears. and replaced the Harmonic Balancer. Now the Harmonic balancer is not lining up with the other pulleys. Belt squeals and wants to run off. The balancer looks to be about a 1/4 inch off and can not get it to go in any father. I took it back off and it measures up to the original one as far as the length of the spline. I can't use the original because its damaged. any Ideas? T.I.A.

Have you checked the bore opening that goes over the end of the crank? Is it bored as deep as the old one or is there a burr or other imperfection inside?

Try sliding the pulley on without the Woodruff key in place. Sometimes they get tilted a little or the channel isn't clean and smooth.

Thus is not a permanent fix, it will only tell you it's the problem.

Thanks for the reply's, after 3 aftermarket harmonic balancers, with the same problem I found a junk yard that had one from a 1996 2.5 and went in perfectly and is running like it is suppose too. Guess the aftermarket junk is not the same as the original parts.
