So, I'm seeing "clone" versions of the Weber 32/36 carb. Do they / can they work?
Anyone have history / success with them?
Thanks.

A clone is a clone, which is almost always a cheaper version of the original. That said, if the price is right you can give it a try and see for yourself. If it doesn’t work for you then you know and can always buy the real thing and give that a try. Remember, it’s only money, you can’t take it with you.

Hi, I had my EFI swapped out of my '89 2.5l and had a Weber 32/36 clone put in.
Yes, the Jeep drives, which it didn't with the fried ECU/EFI combo
BUT..
But....
I have lost track of how many times I've tweaked the darn carb to run right!
No matter what I do it seems to need constant tweaking to get it
1. Running smoothly
2. Starting from cold and not needing constant throttle to stop it stalling even though the choke is on
3. Stop it over revving at normal driving speeds at fast idle.
The Jeep rides fine once warmed up but not without feathering, fettling and fidgeting with the bloody choke and carb screws.

OK, made some progress on the cold start issue and constant choke problems.
Turns out I've been adjusting the wrong fast idle at the wrong time.
Found out I needed to start her cold and adjust a screw under the choke housing so that the runs I'm choke at about 2009rpm for a little bit and then she will back off a bit and when I push the choke back in she drops to 900 rpm and then there's is another screw that makes her run more steadily off choke. Turns out I've been doing it all wrong for 9 months.
I'm going to see how she goes for a few mornings to see if thats finally fixed my carb!
