Greetings,
My 90 YJ rescue was doing pretty well, until....
I was a short distance from home and it didn't want to start. Jump start pack got us going again.
No power gave me an excuse to replace my alternator (that had a broken mount flange).
Well, that didn't do it. No start So, I pulled the starter. Put 12 volts on it. Solenoid (bendix?) worked. Starter no spin.
New starter later, Turn key, no start. Now, I have no power including any gages, including clock! Argh. Something killing the battery(?)
Got the battery (less than 2 years old) charging. Where could that gremlin be?
Gremlin Busters please? Thoughts?
Thank you.
Argh.
NOTE: I'm just following the power leads from the battery.
One goes to the starter and one goes to this crusty little device (see pic).
Any info / thoughts?
Could this be the gremlin?

Main battery and ground cable can corrode down to powder inside the insulation and cause this same thing to happen. Maybe a grounding lug got loose or needs cleaning.

I just installed the Big7 Cable kit and it does make a difference on starting power .
