CCV

The rear hose on carID came with 2 hoses. One for the CCV elbow to manifold and another for manifold from somewheres else. I think it may be for the MAP sensor?

I believe It plugs into top of the firewall above the valve cover. I saw somewhere in the FSM that this is the MAP sensor location.
Yes, it goes to MAP sensor. There are two fittings on the intake manifold right next to each other, one for the MAP sensor and one for the CCV. I received hoses for both as well when I ordered from CARiD.
 
Not sure what it really accomplishes as an end goal, but if basically mixes any excess oil vapor with fresh air from the intake, and runs that back through the intake manifold.

Basically it's an emissions and sludge control thing, along with a way to vent excess pressure. The biggest benefit for us is sludge control and moisture removal. Without some kind of active crankcase ventilation, the combustion by products that make their way into the rest of the engine combine with the oil and form sludge. Moisture removal also helps with sludge prevention and helps keep the oil cleaner for longer as well. Fresh air is pulled from the clean side of the airbox, though the engine and into the intake manifold where these gasses and aerosolized products are burned.

"Back in the day", the crankcase ventilation was just a rubber hose with an angle cut in the end and it would hang down in the airstream under the car/truck. The air flowing past the angled end would create a vacuum and draw these gasses and whatnot out of the engine and onto the ground, bottom side of car, atmosphere, everyone's lungs lol.

The old MB/GPW, CJ2 ect actually used a simple PCV system when lots of vehicles used the above-mentioned overboard type system due to their operating environments.

If you are ever looking at a vehicle and find someone bypassed the system using filters in the valve cover or whatever else people come up with, either pass on it or be prepared to pull the oil pan, valve covers ect and do a sludge clean up.
