Hi All,
I let a friend borrow my YJ and let's just say they aren't as mechanically sympathetic as I am and they have wrenched the gear lever up out of the housing.
I think I only need the Housing Cap however I am having a few 'compatibility' issues.
I've found various links to the CJ Shift Linkage which look like the linkage I have on my '95 YJ. However I get the usual "this won't fit you car' when going thru the compatibility aspect of the website.
Can anyone point me to a YJ shift linkage component drawing with part numbers? or confirm that the CJ components are the same?
J151763 on the extreme Terrain Website looks to be what I need, specifically the part on the top left of the image - the housing cap
Many Thanks,
Gordon

YJ's came with various trannies dependent on year and/or who molested it. AX5, AX15, BA10, or??? I found several folks, ebay,Allstate Gear who sell the entire shifter with the bushings which are nice to replace at the same time. Allstate gets $59 for the entire deal or hit a junk yard. Dont waste time with a dealer or on line mopar place as you'll never find parts for a YJ there.

Thanks, I have a couple of lever assemblies in my ebay basket. . .i'll pull the trigger on one of them today. I've exhausted trying to find the housing cap. . .it's annoying how the one piece you need is discontinued and we have to reply on used. .is that an example of murphy's or sod's law? either way it's a pain.
When I rebuilt the Jeep I renewed the bushings in the housing but the housing cap wasn't part of the kit

I don’t know what cap you keep referring to. The circular retainer that you press down and turn? How does an inexperienced driver mess that up from driving?
