1987 YJ 4.2 auto transmission. Just installed HEI distributor and in the process of removing computer and extra wires. Need help identifying the 2 relays mounted on the battery tray beside the diagnostic ports. This jeep has the starter solenoid mounted to the firewall so I don't think the relays have anything to do with the starter circuit.
I found this to get started with. Probably not perfectly exact since it says for 2.5L. I haven’t found the same diagram for 4.2L yet. This is out of the 1990 FSM but should be the same. Looking closer is calls out which relays are for 4.2L so that should be the answer.
Thanks for the information. One is definitely the manifold heater. The other goes to the oil pressure sending unit and some other emission equipment. The relays will stay but I was able to remove all of the diagnostic port wires which cleaned up a lot of wires. The attached picture shows a junction box that attaches to one of the relays and goes to random equipment. I will keep this also but still trying to identify it. Thanks again for the drawing.
