1993 4.0 auto stalls when stopped

Hi, im having an issue with my 93' 4.0 auto, when in drive the jeep stalls when holding it at a stop. Almost like its still trying to drive forwards when im slowing it down. It idles perfectly in park and neutral but when it goes in either drive or reverse it stalls when holding the brakes, once its moving its fine just when stopping. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this or had this issue before? Any help is appreciated as im from the UK and noone knows about them here. Thank you.

The only thing that I can think of that is happening is that the torque converter is dragging or locking up at idle.

93 YJ 4.0 5 spd. It idles fine at 800 rpm, accerates good, it functionaly preforms very well. Until you stop. I push the clutch in preparing to stop and it dies/stalls. I start down shifting allowing the motor to slow me down. I push the clutch in it dies/Stalls. When it's humid its worse. This is the only performance issue I have. What do you suggest.
