1987 258 Inline 6 runs good but engine quits while driving

1987 yj 258 inline 6
Runs good but engine quits while driving, turn key off then restarts just fine, what could be the problem.
Already replaced the tumbler and ignition switch.

First thing I would do is have the battery load tested and check the battery connection terminals.

Just drove the jeep, wipers & radio still work when the engine dies

It completely quits instantly

I'm not familiar with the 87 258 at all but typically if it's not fuel injected then it will sputter for a very brief time brief quitting, like 1/2 second brief or longer.

So I'm leaning to electrical. It may be temperature related. Does your YJ have a, ECU computer? Can you check for any engine codes? Key switch on/off sequence you can find here in the resource section for engine code reading.

Got it fixed, I replaced the engine control module & problem stopped.
