    1992 YJ Pinion Angle

***Edit*** this doesn't explain double Cardone setups, but its still pretty cool.... Here's the best demonstration I have ever seen:

    Big Block in 89 YJ

yes. you can fit a bbc in a yj. I recently saw a YJ with a 396 in it (same physical size as a 454). I would sell the big block and buy a good 350, much easier swap, but with enough time and money, you can basically fit any engine in any vehicle. Just for funzies, here's a blown V8 in a Mini Cooper.

    Time for a new engine

You should remove the cylinder head and take a peek inside. A head rebuild and/or a new cam would be cheaper than a whole motor. **edit Actually, I would probably start with a leak-down test

Whats the trick to seperate the shifter?

I got a new boot rubber boot for above the shifter lock cup thingy, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to pop the upper shifter off the lower shifter. 4 little tabs holding a square shaft. Specialty tool? ...bigger hammer?

Driver seat off-centered vs the steering wheel

I have to consciously set straight and not try to "square up" with the steering wheel or I will get a back ache after a couple hours.

Added 4" suspension lift, need suggestions to fix steering now

right on! glad you got it sorted out. I threw my track bars away and have never regretted it.

    Body mounts

Prothane and Daystar make really good body lifts that come with all new hardware and polyurethane body mounts. These kits don't use spacers, they replace the entire mount with a taller unit. I have the 1" Daystar BL on my jeep and am quite happy with it. I added a 1" motor mount lift and a...

1979 called, they want their communication device back

I have GMRS and I can talk to CB's because I have one of those too. but you are correct, GMRS radios won't communicate with CB's and vice-versa. cbs talk to cbs and gmrs talk to gmrs, ham radios can talk to everyone.

    AX5 just lost reverse

Update: the 5th/R shift fork has what is called a "shift interlock" its a steel ball that moves between detents in the 5th and reverse shift rails. it locks one shift rail in neutral when the other is shifted into gear, ...anyway the passageway that the ball rides in, is drilled (machined)...

    AX5 just lost reverse

Nope. Not even if I let it roll back. It's like reverse no longer exists. There's not even so much as a little divot where reverse used to be.

    AX5 just lost reverse

No weird sounds, no warning. I backed into the driveway last night with no issues. Today I drove to the store and there is no reverse. It doesn't even feel like it tries to go in, no grinding, no nothing. It doesn't even feel like the slot where reverse was is still there. It's like it's...

    What are modest off-road mods?

The only issue I have with the UCF skid plates is it's kinda hard to change the oil, otherwise they're tough as hell. They have better clearance and are way more "slipplerly" than the stock unit...

1989 4.2: What could be causing air to clog my fuel line?

Admittedly, I'm not familiar with with the Webber conversion, I'm pretty familiar with carburetors though. I was a boat mechanic for a while and saw a lot of fuel line issues. Do you know what the fuel pressure is without the regulator? (that's just me being curious) fuel line is cheap and...

1989 4.2: What could be causing air to clog my fuel line?

could be a few things; looks like those rubber lines are reaching the end of their service life. what do ALL the soft lines look like, including under the jeep? cracked, collapsed or kinked fuel lines can cause all kinds of problems. did you get a bad fuel pump? (it happens) I recommend...

    Clutch master cylinder air bubble

Don't remember the brand, but it's not Napa. I got it at the local Federated Auto Parts store the Master cylinder is aluminum (slave too) Everything seems to be working properly so far.

    Clutch master cylinder air bubble

It's external. I replaced both pieces with a pre-bled unit and the master failed after 15 miles. That was the last complete unit the parts house had available, so they just warrantied the master. The bleed screw is on the top side of the slave, but i'm not even gonna try to bleed it. it is...
