What route would I take from South Florida to Arizona?

Can't give you advice about the route, but enjoy the trip. Some years ago I took a cross country trip in my YJ and had a great time. Took the Point Sublime 4x4 trail in the north rim of Grand Canyon, took the trail over Hurricane pass in Colorado (a bit of white knuckle experience).

    Advice on a ‘88 YJ

33s on the standard axles (he does not say it was lifted) are going to be a potential issue. At minimum sluggish performance, and could eventually damage the axles.

Why is there so much hate against YJ square headlight Jeeps?

I think the hoops were put there to meet some bumper requirement, as the spare stuck out much more than the actual bumper. But they can be useful for attaching stuff.

Why is there so much hate against YJ square headlight Jeeps?

There was a time when there were lots of jokes about the square lights, but now they've gotten a lot more respect. They're old, they've been around and paid their dues and have a bare bones no frills character. the square headlight jeeps on the trail are there because some real Jeeper kept them...

I would guess that is either a defective sender or a short in the gage wiring. Pull the wire off the sender and see if it still does that I would also pull the valve cover and see if there's a lot of sludge. One more thing about the gage. There are TWO senders on that engine, the normal one for...

What are you using for a jack for your YJ?

I still have my factory jack under the hood* (in case I need to use both), but the factory jack is a screw jack. Hydraulic is easier to use in my opinion, * Also have a toolbox under the hood. Can't do that with modern vehicles.

What are you using for a jack for your YJ?

I use a hydraulic bottle jack (when not in my garage). It's been needed by Jeepers on the trail, but never by me yet. High lifts are a mixed bag. They can be helpful under some circumstances, but can be dangerous on unsteady situations. Years ago cars used to come with 'bumper jacks' which were...

    Intro

Nice to find this place. I bought my 89 YJ 14 years ago after looking at Jeeps enviously for a long time, didn't know much about the models but I had a good sense of identifying a solid engine/transmission etc. Gradually fixed up the issues from the previous owner, drove it cross country less...
