    Engine Swap

Just spoke to the mechanic. No joy with the timing tool. Still won't run. Says it more difficult to analyse the exact fault as I've put so many new things on since January to make it work. I kind of want it back on my drive now so I can start again and tick everything off. It's warmer now with...

    Engine Swap

That's Wranglerfix quote. Way beyond my budget at the moment. I already spent £700 on two ECUs in March. Haven't tried the 2ndnone as its for 1989 XJ which I was told would be the same as my YJ ecu. That'll be the next thing to try! Yeah just empty your pockets.....I'm living that quote for real.

    Engine Swap

Hi Gila, Heres the very latest as of this morning. The latest mechanic has had to order a 'special timing device for this Jeep'. As hes certain it's all centred around a timing issue. According to the manuals, the timing is all controlled by the ECU, and all you can do is muck about with the...

    Engine Swap

Health is improving steadily. Thanks for asking. Still no actual firm diagnosis yet which is kind of frustrating but definitely improving. Allowed to drive again recently which is a huge deal for me. No dealer near me will touch the Jeep. Trust me, I've been to four and they all say the same...

    Engine Swap

Hi all, just wondering how hard it is to take a 2.5l out and replace with another 2.5l? Thinking of doing this with my still kaput 89r. Tried everything under the sun and three mechanics and she still wont run anywhere near smooth. Thanks!

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

That's mighty coincidental as my guy literally texted late last night and asked me to buy a new FPR! I'll post an update as if it's that then it might help someone else with my chain of issues.

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

Hi Red, sorry, been a tad busy, I didn't get around to testing the exhaust or clean out the TB as I had it towed 6 weeks ago as a local garage told me they have a look and fix it. They didn't do either as far as I know so I haven't seen it since late May. It's with a friend of mine who deals...

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

Just noticed you're in MO. I strayed into MO in 2017 by accident haha. I was on a solo road trip and staying in Belle Fourch in SD and drove north to find the old US highway to visit the Centre of the US. Took a wrong left and ended up about 50 miles into MO before I stopped and a local told I...

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

Hi, Yup, got the bolts all tightened. One had actually fallen out! Which was the culprit on the backfire. I did buy an intake gasket but never got round to installing it as I was in my mechanics for dummies stage and it was too daunting haha. I replaced the IAC at the same time and she worked...

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

Hi! Sorry for the radio silence, been from pillar to post on the health issue and other personal issues. Hope all is good with you. So, about 5 or 6 weeks ago a local garage offered to take the Jeep in and run a full physical analysis on it and get it past its MOT. Brilliant I thought, as I'm...

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

Would a 1991 cat fit a 1989 YJ? Over here I can find lots of 1991 -1996 but not a single 1989 but they look identical.

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

Hi again, no didn't try that. Good point. I'll tell the garage guy to give it a go. Thanks.

Fuel at injector but not at spark plugs

Hi all, I'm on the mend and back to figuring out my Jeep. It's been in the shop as it won't start and they can't make it start. I put a new ECU and new injector in (before getting it towed) and it started but ran an drove something terrible. Black smoke, next to no guts/ power, coughing...

    Intake Air Temp Sensor issue

Yeah, that's seems to be the answer, polarity doesn't matter etc. I'll swap em round and see if it starts up. I'm this close to selling it. 4 months now and so much trouble. Plus I can't drive it for a year so it's just going to sit there anyway. Prefer to get it running so I can sell it as...

    Intake Air Temp Sensor issue

Hi all, does it matter which way I wire up an IAT? Put a new one in today and the darned jeep still won't power up. Could it be I wired the IAT polarity the wrong way around? It didn't come with the same connector on my jeep so I had to use the little kit it came with. Thanks

    YJ Heating System Explained

Late in on this one. I had the same issue with questionable floor flow and only after folks helped me in here figure out a relates cable connection, did I find out that there is supposed to be a plastic flow box screwed to the bottom of the air box which directs air to the driver footwell and...
