93 4.0 rough Idle and popping

I had to laugh at this one. Years ago I worked at a bosch importer. The CEO, an arrogant German dude had just bought a new Cherokee and was headed for a ski trip that weekend. He asked my to install a set of the then new Bosch Plat plugs. I did just that. I also put them in my 350/suburban that...

    Heating Query

Yes, block off the cowl and see if that makes a difference.

    RPM Query

Ahhhh.... but you have so many small diesel vehicles to yank running gear from :p I also lived at 7500' elevation so that didnt help power output.

    RPM Query

I ran my 2.5's all day long at 3200 +- when on the highway. No 5th use 95% of the time either as its just wouldn't pull it. You could hold the speed in 5th with it floored, but when shifted down to 4th you quickly gain speed. To me that's bogging so why bother even if the rpm dropped to 2800 or...

    Heating Query

I cant recall clearly as its been a while since the YJ. I think its possible to get outside air from the cowl mixing and cooling the heated air. On my 91 I gave up on cable ops and just moved doors to where I needed them winter or summer kinda thing.

Pulled PCV valve off and saw major sludge buildup in valve cover, is this normal?

Try pulling any codes as well and see if that sets you in the right direction for fixes.

    Overheating 1995 YJ 2.5

If thats all your seeing for temps you have an problem. Bad or no thermostat, bad gauge or sender. Recommended thermo is a 195 which will allow for closed loop ops of the emissions. Yeah the gauges suck like much of the electrics on a jeep, but corrosion and bad grounds are typically the culprit.

Pulled PCV valve off and saw major sludge buildup in valve cover, is this normal?

You need to pull the VC and get all the crap out of it. There is a baffle plate in the VC that will never come clean from the top side picking away at it. Far as 8mpg, Id say you have something else going on. My 4 bangers always got 16 or so mixed driving with 31's.

    No brakes

DOT 5/silicone fluid likely?? Being all the parts, and rubber hoses have been replaced it do sound like you just have to much air in the lines. A tool I use is a Mighty Vac. Plug it on the wheel cyl bleeder and suck away. You better make 100% sure all the old stuff is out as well.

Door surrounds and window seals on 93 Jeep YJ

I always wondered the same thing. I ran my 91 like you are for a while but when it rains of snows..yeah. I eventually put the soft top back on and ran with no side curtains, full or no doors and and the rear window in place. No dust, no exhaust coming back in, way quieter than a full top and no...

Low brake fluid in master fluid reservoir, okay to drive?

If your brakes feel the same and no mushy pedal then I be OK with not bleeding the brakes. Long as the piston intake holes are submerged all is good. But..If you were wheeling, getting off camber,up or down hills then I say you better bleed them. But...there that but again. Its not a bad idea to...

    YJ shackles

Here's what Im thinking. You have non stock springs and bushings. Those poly bushings have a thicker shoulder than the OEM ones. The OEM shackles which you have use a stepped bolt thru them. That no matter how tight the nut is it only squeezes to the bolts shoulder. Throw in the wider poly...

    Notchy Gear Box

What are you running for trans lube? Ive found in my AX5's the 10/30 synthetic worked best. 70/80ish gear oil made shifting way to notchy especially in cold months. Many swear by Redline MT90 IIRC?? Just dont use the typical store bought GL5 gear oils sold these days.

    Epic wheeling trip

Yeah!!!!!!!!! I used to hit that area every couple weeks, and then we moved away :(. Courtwright, Wishon, and the other two. You gotta do the Dusy as well. Damn shame how it burned and worst yet after 20 years of fishing and wheeling up there one could see it coming. Enjoy them places while you...

Where is the best place to sell my Jeep?

As a "I buy to much chit" person Id say craigslist is dead pretty much these days. As much as I despise FB, Id list it in FB market place.

How much would you pay for this?

Jeeps are money pits and you know that, so remind the seller he'll never recoup his investment whatever he is asking. Or are you the seller?
