1989 YJ intake / exhaust manifold question

You say it is decked, I assume you mean machined flat? If this is the case I would use just the manifold gasket. If it is not machined but cleaned up really well and appears to be flat and level to the best of your determination, I would still just use a new gasket. Your mileage may very.

    Transmission stabilizer stud

Not saying that this is what anyone is supposed to do, but I had the same issue and didn’t like how loose the linkage fit. I replaced the rod with all thread and a series of nuts and washers. 3/8” I am almost positive. This way I could tighten the bushings on the trans mount and in the cross...

Tips and tricks for serpentine belt install

Can you get it started on the pulley? If so try bumping the starter to roll it the rest of the way on.

    New cage

I personally really like it. The main reason for me getting this kit is that it can be removed to take apart the dash. And I am very sure that the dash will be coming apart in the future. Getting the A pillar bars, or at least the second one, on is a challenge. This is because everything is a...

Weber carb plays up after long steady drive

That choke looks about right. But the stalling problem after driving for hours at speed doesn’t sound like a problem with too little choke. The first place that I would start is adjusting the idle speed up a little. That may make it idle faster than you want when cooler but possibly not stall...

    1990 Wrangler 4.2 No Start

If you have fuel to the bowl it’s not a fuel problem keeping it from running. Fuel psi is not a problem for carbs as long as it makes there. But I’m sure you already know that .

    YJ overheating and fueling issues

I’m not familiar with that mod. But if you want a hotter spark, there are many affordable GM style HEI distributors for the Jeep straight 6 that are drop in ready. One was on my Jeep when I got it, thought that I would need to replace it like everything else that came with it, but I didn’t...

    Broken seat bolt and mount

I personally would do my best to drill out the bolt if I was unable to turn it on out with vise grips from underneath. And put a new bolt through with a nut and whatever size washers or drilled steel plate and call it fixed.

Weber 38 degrees on 1987 Wrangler no start (need help identifying vacuum lines)

Someone at some time probably did the Nutter. But I stripped ALL the wiring because it was butchered past all belief. Made my own harness. It has what it needs and nothing that it doesn’t.. The fuse box is from Summit and is located where the glove box was. I had no intention of changing any...

    YJ overheating and fueling issues

Well, what is meant by this is that the thermostat opens a little earlier and gives some more headroom on the temperature. Yes a new radiator is a good idea, but you already had that in the queue. Good luck

Weber 38 degrees on 1987 Wrangler no start (need help identifying vacuum lines)

Photos of my engine. The B line is not attached, but my carb is the DGVE 32/36. You will probably have to trace it out and see where it goes. My guess is that it is either a return of some kind or a float bowl overflow. But I am just reaching for crap because I don’t know.

You can also install a 160 deg. Thermostat. Helped mine a lot. Got mine at Advance auto for about $7.

Weber 38 degrees on 1987 Wrangler no start (need help identifying vacuum lines)

The PCV valve on mine is on the front and looked to me like it is on yours as I can see something shiny around the edge. That may not be correct because the pcv will fit in either end of the valve cover. The fitting on the rear of the valve cover looks like it is all black like mine was. That...

Weber 38 degrees on 1987 Wrangler no start (need help identifying vacuum lines)

The O2 sensor does not need to be used with the Weber. Line A is crank case evacuation looks like going to manifold or bottom of carburetor. Mine and most that I have seen go to a fitting in the bottom of air cleaner on a Weber equipped jeep. B I’m not sure what it is without looking at mine. C...
