    If you really think the black smoke is from a plugged cat, don’t put on a new cat to find out. Why not just cut the exhaust prior to the cat which you would have to do anyway and fire it. up and see if it’s still smokes. Did you happen to clean out your throttle body?

    I meant to unscrew the vent on the hood and stick a 6 foot wire through the hole. It commonly gets plugged up and causes water to run onto the floor behind the dash. Like this:

    Be sure to tighten all manifold bolts to spec. Mine were really loose and after tightening them my mpg is great…for a yj. Some people find the rear one is totally missing.
