    No crank, no lights

So this morning the Jeep started right up like normal, and after my first stop it wouldn’t start. The dash lights would illuminate intermittently but were mostly dark. When I turned the key I heard a click like a relay ir a spasm from the starter once or twice but mostly did nothing. No...

If the tailgate is creasing at the lower edge of the carrier it sounds like like that spot is a fulcrum and a torque is being applied above. Maybe the tire is pressing into the upper snubbers disproportionately?

I bought a set of 4 1.22” bumpers from a reseller. They are pretty close to the right width and I plan to just shim them out with ~3/16” rubber fender washers or rubber mat. I have about decided to cut and reweld the damaged part of the carrier to get it to sit more squarely with the gate. I...

For what it’s worth, I have ~7mm clearance where yours are hitting. (Of course I have different springs.). Also it’s about 73mm from the center bolt of the plate to the center of the welded link mounting post. Maybe those Crown plates welded the mount 3-4mm too for rearward?

    Exhaust geometry problems

Thanks for the extra info. I looked a couple places and that midpipe is around $390 and out of stock. But I may go that route eventually so I don’t have to keep messing with rusting broken parts every year or two. Did you remove the skid plate for better access?

    Exhaust geometry problems

That looks great! I think I could pull off something like that. Looks like you used better clamps than I did. Also, is the mid pipe hanger curved to go into the rubber slot in the skid mount? Mine is flat stock and obviously didn’t fit well. My other confusion is how to test fit everything...

    Exhaust geometry problems

i think part if the problem is low quality materials; that hanger to the transmission mount apparently couldn’t hold the weight so now everything is sagging. I’ll have to do some research and make a plan. It would be nice to get good quality materials and workmanship that will last a long time...

    Exhaust geometry problems

Shortly after i acquired the YJ, I discovered a cracked exhaust manifold and decided to replace the whole exhaust. I had never done anything like this; I went ahead and bought a complete kit from RockAuto (cheapest Walker option) and bolted it all together. I was moderately pleased with myself...

Thanks for the info. Maybe I’ll try to cut/weld the carrier back to square, then maybe 1.22” will fit. I can always shim with rubber fender washers.

Maybe the backspacing is less on the 15x7? The 15x8 Canyons are 5.5”, but my build sheet says it came with 15x7 steel wheels. Can you measure the backspacing on your ‘new’ wheels from Original Wheels? If it’s 5” that would explain a lot.

The snubbers are going to be trouble. I have a TJ snubber that measures just over 1.5” and it won’t fit in any of the four snubber spaces. I have a homemade snubber i made out of a rubber mallet that is about 1” and it fits in one spot, but is too thin in two spots and too thick in the fourth...

Got the desired tire mounted on the rim. It’s definitely a more aggressive tread than the G015 it’s replacing. I have a TJ Sahara spare cover, but I like the way this looks for now.

I got the spare mounted on the refinished wheel and installed on the tailgate. I think it looks good, maybe better than with the vinyl tire cover. Unfortunately, discount tire mounted the wrong Yokohama, so the spare is back there to get the new Geolandar A/T4 installed. But while the spare...

Since you’re going to stock height you’re probably not planning to tackle big obstacles. I think an aggressive tread might look out of place, plus create more road noise than necessary. Why not look for something with a similar tread to the original tires? Do you know what kind of tires it came...

At full lock I have almost an inch clearance from the rear of the tire to the spring and well over an inch from the front of the tire to the spring. About 3/4” to the sway bar.

No rubbing anywhere with the 2” springs. I took it to Hidden Falls a couple weekends ago and flexed it out as much as leaf springs allow, and no rubbing.

I’ve been happy with the 30x9.5. With ~2” of lift it seems like the “just right” size. 30x9.5 would still fit on 15x7 rims if I ever went that route, right? Or do they have to have the 8” width?

My Canyons came to me like this: It looks ok, but I stripped and refinished the spare with clear only. Getting a new Geolandar A/T4 on the rim tomorrow. I haven’t decided whether to strip the remaining 4 wheels. I’ll wait and see how you like the Original Wheels.

Are they painting them silver or putting a clear coat on the steel?

I like the steel rims as well. Mine came with TJ Canyon wheels, painted dark. They’re ok, but i like the originals better. Where did you find the center caps for sale?
