Mine was covered with dry mud and all the lines were buried. They seemed OK but that's were I'll start. I don't have a body lift so trying to get a glimpse of what's on top of the tank without dropping it is nearly impossible. I wish I had a snake cam.

Gas Cao? Maybe the fuel tank isn't venting and is drawing a vacuum.

I didn't cut my access panel yet but I'd probably drop the tank to do it. Mu luck I'd cut into the tank, hoses or wires.
