Hi, Im going to try replacing the three infamous capacitors from my original 1989 ECM. Do you know the three capacitors I need to buy please? Looks like 2 x ITT 4004 and 1 x ST140 written on them? Thanks all.

Well, I'm back. And so is my Jeep. After three months at three different mechanics I got my Jeep back yesterday. Still not running. So here is the latest for you wizards to fathom out.... On two occasions where she was trailered to mechanics, upon unloading, she started just fine, like nothing...

Hi, you say you replaced the 3 capacitors on the ECU? Can you tell me what 3 capacitors you replaced and what were the replacement values / numbers of the new ones you out in. My Jeep is at its third mechanic and although we fixed the fuel issue, we now have no spark to the injector. Apparently...

Yeah, just a turn of phrase, won't be polishing them haha. I'll be doing what you've done. Just a good clean up and degrease. They may not need much but ive seen vids where the ports are half the size they should be due to build up/clogging etc.

Yeah, it's going to happen. The Jeep is still at the 3rd mechanic. He's trying everything he knows to get it running again. If he does and it can be trusted to keep running, then over winter I'll be whipping the manifold off and changing that gasket and I'll be scraping and polishing the ports...

Nice one. OK. I'll plan on doing that. To be fair my TB is spotless, really clean so perhaps the intakes are not too bad but I'll be looking at them anyway when I replace the intake manifold gasket which certainly looks like its seen much better days!

Dumb question time but am i right in assuming if the ports and inlets are partially clogged or caked in oil and carbon build up, then scraping all that out and cleaning them up will allow the ole jeep to -'breathe' better and perhaps run a little better? I do t mean incredible performance...

I bet that's what mine will resemble if I pulled it apart. Curiosity will kill me and eventually I'll get around to checking the ports. Even if it runs the same I'll feel better just knowing they are as oem as possible. Cheers.

Wow, I've always wanted to take my manifold off and see what the block holes look like after 35 years. Probably like yours with a big carbon deposit around them! Does the engine breathe better or feel/run better once you've cleaned them and opened the holes up to original sizes?

Hi, I'm just thinking, could it be that my new injector is the wrong one or is faulty and 'allowing' or forcing too much fuel into the throttle body and that's what causing the terrible running? Mechanic had given up saying it needs converting to a carb but I don't have the $$$ for that. Could...
