1995 YJ 4.0 distributor replacement recommendations

I can assure you there is not a secret untapped market for good distributors that you just haven’t found yet. They all suck in the aftermarket. Best bet is to try and find some low mile OEM takeoff from eBay or something.

It is quite unfortunate and if I ever end up getting rid of my Jeep, terrible parts availability will likely be the number one reason I do so. Still holding on for now but man, in 12 years it has gotten so unbelievably bad. There were TONS of parts, both OEM and decent aftermarket when I joined the Jeep world in 2013. Things have changed so much since then, and all for the worst.

Just replaced mine yesterday with a GM HEI style for the Jeep from JEGS. My Jeep had a fairly new looking HEI one in it when I got it and it ran but started having issues and discovered a problem with it so got a new one. These things ranged from $50 on Amazon to $220 at summit and some even higher. The JEGS unit with plug wires was $160 including shipping. I got it because of my knowledge of the grade of parts that the previous owners had used, I had no doubt that it was a $50 Amazon distributor. I may have made a mistake with not going with the Summit blueprint unit for $220, but decided that the JEGS unit was probably better than what I had. And it is, does not have the same problem as the old one and so far running much better. Time will tell.
