1992 Jeep YJ, 2.5, Manual here. Just installed stereo and new dash speakers. All was rusted in and wiring in dash just bundled and wrapped. I cleaned up all the wiring and secured off only utilizing the constant, switched and ground. I ran all new speaker wiring. After finishing the install, the radio came right on and sounds great, yet now the 4wd light is on (first time I've seen it work since I purchased 6 months ago). Please note that I have replaced the dash gauge cluster because none worked, and now all do nicely. I tried unplugging the indicator sensor on the passanger front axle, yet it still on. I tried to plug the vacuum lines, and still on. Any suggestions? Is there something in the dash that I could of disrupted when peeling it back to get speakers out? Does the Sensor switch keep light off when pressed or released? I did see on a thread that sharp turn and vibration means 4wd is stuck, which I have felt a couple times only when parking it.
Thanks,
Ray

If the front axle disconnect wiring is disconnected, and the bulb is still on, then you have a short somewhere allowing the bulb to receive ground. Your problem is likely local at the 5-gauge cluster.

Light had never come on even when replaced gauge cluster a couple months ago. This only started when I peeled back the dash panel to replace the speakers and install radio. Please note all the wires for the radio were bundled together in tape rusted. I cut them back and cleaned them very well. Is there a chance there is a wire behind the dash that could have been affected? If so what and where is it?

YOU DA MAN!!!!! When running all new speaker wire, I dropped it over the top of the dash as it was leaning forward. When I pushed dash back in place, the wire was bending the 5 gauge cluster plug and grounding that one light. I have fixed and all is back to functioning.

Thanks again, and if every in NOLA, Hollar!
