    Goodyear Wrangler Radials

There has been a lot of info/mis-info on the availability of the original stock GoodYear Wrangler Radial tires over the past several years. Ten years ago, I was in need of a new set of tires. Over the years, I had purchased two subsequent sets of the original stock Wrangler Radials. (On my...

You May be Sitting on a Gold Mine

Check out this recent auction result on BaT (Bring a Trailer). This sweet '88 Sahara sold for $24,000! That's 194% of its 1988 MSRP. Not too shabby for a 35 yr. old Jeep with 150,000 miles. So whether you have a junker, a barn find, a daily driver or a restored beauty, hopefully this will...

Exhaust manifold replacement: what else should I do at the same time? Share some wisdom & save me some time

I live in an apt. complex so I'm not able to do my own (major) mechanical work. I have full faith in the auto shop I've been going to for over 30 years. (The mechanic who 1st began working on my Jeep is now the owner of the shop.). It ain't cheap but like my personal doctor, I know he'll...

    Security locks for ‘94 YJ

Here's my 411 on YJ security from wheel locks to hood locks to door hinge security to console security to car alarm system... Wheel Locks: McGard (www.mcgard.com). These are keyed lug nuts (replacing 1 of the 5 on ea. wheel) that can only be removed with a "key" that affixes to a ratchet set...

What did you name your YJ and how did you decide on it?

I named my rig Square Lights because "purists" have denigrated the YJ era as not real Jeeps. I named my rig Square Lights. Rather than retreat to the intimidation by Jeep "purists" (the round lights only crowd). I say, "get over it." We are the original Wrangler brand and that alone deserves...

Does the YJ Deserve a Star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame?

So let's have some fun with YJ trivia... How about naming screen appearances over the years in which YJ's appeared? I'll start if off with the most recognized/famous of 'em all, Jurassic Park...

36 yr old YJ retains at least 75% of its OEM value!

Thought y'all would be interested in what a stock '88 YJ is going for, on auction. IMHO, this is a pretty sweet-looking rig. The pundits appear to be correct in saying that a stock version will maintain its value better than a modified one. For all you YJ to CJ front-grill converters, STOP...

Exhaust manifold replacement: what else should I do at the same time? Share some wisdom & save me some time

Replace your freeze plugs @ the bottom of the block. My rig’s started leaking antifreeze @ 225,000 miles. Freeze plug set was $60. A cheap investment while you’ve got the manifold off.

    Freeze plugs

My '94 4.0L 5-speed has 225,000 mi and has leaking freeze plugs. My mechanic (who has worked on my Wrangler for 27 years) has informed me that this is a fairly comprehensive job. Although the engine doesn't need to be fully extracted, it, nevertheless, requires disassembling the exhaust...

    Powertrain Control Module

After doing extensive research about powertrain control modules I have concluded that the safest procedure is to simply purchase a replacement which I have found at DeadJeeps.com. For my '94 YJ, it will cost approx. $350. and DeadJeeps informed me that it will arrive already programmed, thus a...
