    What top?

Not sure if anyone can help with this one. I have a hard top on my 94 YJ. I am pretty sure it's not original as the plug on the wiring harness on the jeep is a different shape/size than the receptacle on the top, and I have a switch for both rear defogger and rear wiper on the dash but the top...

    Front wheel noise

When I have my front axle locked (manual PTO cable lock,) and the transfer case in 2 Hi, there is a high pitched noise coming from the right wheel. I first though it's probably a bearing, but if I unlock the axle the noise goes away, or if I shift the transfer case into 4, it goes away. It's...

What tool can’t you live without for your yj?

That's what I use for a dome light, stuck on the top of my window frame. And it's handy for any time I need a little extra light when causing trouble under the hood.

    Exhaust leak?

Thanks for the advice. It's nice to know I'm not the only one to have seen this. I'll try re-tightening the bolts when the engine is hot. Does anyone know what they should be torqued to? Or should they just be tightened till they are tight?

    Exhaust leak?

That is a good idea. If I have time tomorrow afternoon, I'll make some recordings, before and after it stops. I was totally shocked when I discovered it had a practically new header on it. Looking at the body you would think this thing was never taken care of, but whoever had it last took...

    Exhaust leak?

I'm pretty sure it's not the fan and it's not the engine revving. It sounds like an exhaust leak, but no exhaust smell. It's a weird one for sure.

    Exhaust leak?

When I purchased this 94, I didn't test drive it much, but it sounded like it had a pretty good exhaust leak up by the engine. I figured the pipe was probably rotted out and would need to be changed up there, even though the tail pipe is almost brand new. After getting it home (the dealership...

    Traction bars? Remove or leave?

Thanks everyone. Good food for thought. I may remove the rear eventually to see how much of a difference it makes. Then if that doesn't mess with my handling too much, maybe the front as well. That will come when I find a little spare time. There's not much of that around lately though. It...

    Traction bars? Remove or leave?

I've been seeing a lot of discussion about removing the track bars from a YJ and am curious about it. My 94 rides really, really rough. I didn't expect it to ride like my Grand Cherokee Limited, but it's almost bone jarring on the roads around here. I've seen some people suggest removing the...

    Leaky Jeepy

Oh man, don't even get me started on plumbing.... Every time I attempt one of those, there is a cascading avalanche of problems. A simple bathroom faucet replacement turned into a week long hunt for the right size drain pipe that disabled my upstairs bathroom. Another "simple" faucet...

    Leaky Jeepy

No insult taken jeepjoe43. I spent a week in Arizona last spring (that's where you are, right?) Absolutely LOVED it. Would move there in a heart beat if I could find work that paid enough. I'm getting real tired of these Northern winters. Spent my first 40 years in Michigan's snowbelt, then...

    Leaky Jeepy

From what I'm hearing here, I'm thinking it's probably my windshield cowl. The frame is pretty rusty, so I'm sure that seal is shot. I'll check the drain pipe under the vend grate behind the hood too and shine the light up at the firewall. All great suggestions. It doesn't leak bad, but here...

    Leaky Jeepy

I put a box of brake parts for my wife's van on the floor of my 94 YJ yesterday afternoon just before it started to rain. Went out this morning to discover a very wet box of brake parts. Water was dripping in from under the dash board. Where should I begin to look for this leak? Any...

    What is it?

machoheadgames, thank you for the insightful reply. I appreciate it! I was moving when I tried to shift it, but apparently not fast enough. I was only moving up and down my driveway, so probably not even 5 mph. I tried again this morning as i pulled into the parking lot at work (10 to 15,)...

    Covid Nonsense

Yes, I agree with you. When they stopped calling them jeeps and started calling them SUV's, the prices shot up and they became the fashion for all the soccer mom's out there. Fortunately there is still a group of people who know the difference between a Jeep and an SUV. As for this country's...
