    1987 YJ 258 hollie carb

Is the new pump actually working? Pull the line off the carb and verify. Way to many junk parts around anymore.

    Starting issues

Id be suspicious of the ignition switch at the lower part of the steering column.

    New and Looking For Info

Rare by build is one thing, rare because it hasn't been hacked, molested and beat to death does make it rare.

Need advice for valve cover gasket replacement

As long as its clean thats OK. I will add I see many gob RTV on a gasket like a VC, and then slap in on and tighten the poo outta the bolts. Surely you notice how slippery RTV is and when the above is done it ends with the gasket sliding out of place. What I do is a thin coat of RTV, lay the...

Sanity Check - YJ Ownership Cost

If you have your heart set on a open top jeep I get it, however an alternative would be a Cherokee if you can find a decent one. I personally would avoid the grand cherokee if you want basic. They are loaded with electronic bling and are known for problems. However, I cant think of to many non...

    1990 2.5L Wrangler Exhaust Issue

I suppose if it worked Ok then go with it. The Howell FI kits are off a 4.3 TBI chevy engine so not all is lost. But being they only got used 3 years IIRC, there not real popular.

Sanity Check - YJ Ownership Cost

With your budget I doubt you'll find a later TJ but one never knows. That's where the 0331 heads 99-01 or whatever it was. Also late 05/06 have computer issues and trans issues with the 4 speed OD ones. The 32RH on early TJ is said to be real good. The YJ's are great but just getting old and...

    1990 2.5L Wrangler Exhaust Issue

Unless changed you have one of the few year YJ's that came with a TBI fuel injection system on the 2.5. Not much support for that system however I see rockauto does have some of the TBI parts. Check your fuel pressure. I could see a bad coil doing this but they rarely go bad in my experience but...

    1990 2.5L Wrangler Exhaust Issue

Rotton egg smell? That can be linked to a bad Cat converter. Smell hot also once it starts to act up after pushing it a bit?

    1990 2.5L Wrangler Exhaust Issue

258 or 2.5 or 4.0? I cant recall on the 90 YJ's. Does it sound like it has an exhaust leak? The exhaust manifolds on the 4.0's are notorious for cracks at the Y, muffler wont affect diddly but noise. If the mechanic cant tell between the muffler or carb why it wont run right, find a new...

Sanity Check - YJ Ownership Cost

Finding a YJ or TJ for $5K that hasn't been molested to death by its last 12 owners will be hard. No, they don't fart butterflies and grow wings when you jump them off a 10' drop off. At least your in AZ where rust isn't a huge issue. I lived in the white mtns and did see some frame issues as...

    Fuel smell

Best guess is double check the top of the tank for wetness and the cap since you'll get no in your face CEL to tell you the evap is not right. Also check the lines off the filler tube. One may be split and you just dont see it.

What else will I need with this Rusty 4" lift kit?

I personally would remove the trac bars entirely. Id also not install the drop arm until you drive it and see how it is bump steer wise, if any. Kinda trial and error kinda thing. The shims arent about drive shaft flex, their for adjusting the drive line/pinion to eliminate D/S vibes. If you go...

    1992 YJ Pinion Angle

Generally speaking the killer is having 2 different end angles. Pinion to DS looks way more then your T case to DS angle. It looks like your diff end is rolled up. 1.5 degrees difference between either end is said to OK but more and vibes startin. Do you have the shims in now? I cant tell...
