The Slow Demise of the Manual Transmission

The 00 or 01 Xterra I had was a rolling coolant leak. Just sayin. No mucho beans, poo mpg but it was fun. Oddly enough Id buy another though. If you get a stick I'll bet withing a week you'll take a sledge hammer to the wheel well by the clutch pedal and make it...........better we'll say.

1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ 4.0 (Manual) – Exhaust Recommendations

IMO any 6 banger sounds crappy with anything but a stock muff. Droning sucks and will tire you out eventually. Don't even think of removing the cat or gutting it as its a complete waste of time and effort and will yeild 0 on HP gains. That being said one mans idea of good might be anothers...

    Clutch

There was a few posts RE this. IIRC guys removed the quick and connected the two lines together. I never had any issues on my 91 or 95 but who knows.

Rockauto, $60.79. STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS PR210 w/ O-ring Info . Or you can buy the same exact part from oreileys for $81.99. Gotta pay for their "parts retards" ase certs. Or better yet Napa Echlin from china for a whopping $154. A Bend over deal.

Spark plug gap after performance coil

No offence there but you may want to google "MSD coil failure" Seems for some time there have been unexplained multiple failures of them. Keep your stocker with you in case and some tools to swap it back. From MSD. As a rule of thumb, it is recommended to increase the plug gap by .005” - .010”...

    Engine and transmission opinions

The AX15 is definitely the better of the bunch for transmissions in jeeps. Considering all the mods needed to change to?? Id rebuild it or get a rebuilt one. Far as the engine goes, the shy is the limit, how much you wanna spend? The 4.0 is about as bullet proof as they come but no ball of fire...

1987 YJ 258 Holley Carb Won't Start After Sitting For Months

Is the new pump actually working? Pull the line off the carb and verify. Way to many junk parts around anymore.

    Starting issues

Id be suspicious of the ignition switch at the lower part of the steering column.

    New and Looking For Info

Rare by build is one thing, rare because it hasn't been hacked, molested and beat to death does make it rare.

Need advice for valve cover gasket replacement

As long as its clean thats OK. I will add I see many gob RTV on a gasket like a VC, and then slap in on and tighten the poo outta the bolts. Surely you notice how slippery RTV is and when the above is done it ends with the gasket sliding out of place. What I do is a thin coat of RTV, lay the...
