Mechanic replaced slave, master and clutch. No more slip, but no more shift?

Sort of. It shifts great after pumping the clutch a bunch yesterday with the cap off the master cylinder and leaving it overnight to work out the micro bubbles. Unfortunately, there is a small transmission leak now. He didnt tell me where, but he thinks it may be the main seal . Hes...

Mechanic replaced slave, master and clutch. No more slip, but no more shift?

The master had a leak. But while he was in there I had him install the whole setup. Clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, internal space and external master

Mechanic replaced slave, master and clutch. No more slip, but no more shift?

It was shifting perfectly but the master cylinder was leaking like crazy and it was slipping in every gear. He checked with a mechanic friend who worked for Jeep and he said you have to keep depressing the clutch a ton to get the micro bubbles out of the lines, even after bleeding the system. He...

Mechanic replaced slave, master and clutch. No more slip, but no more shift?

I have an 89 YJ 2.5 cyl and had my mechanic put in an LUK clutch kit, he did everything and I also had him do the master cylinder from LUK as well. He just called and let me know it’s not slipping but it barely shifts into gear and reverse is impossible without turning off the car. I’m just...

    O2 sensor replacement questions

I have been searching but have had mixed results, does an 89 YJ only have the upstream O2 sensor? I looked downstream and dont see one after the CAT, nor do I see a wiring harness. (all I have come across, is that my 89 is an OBD1 and should only have 1 o2 Sensor, I have a 2.5L by the way if...

Exhaust manifold replacement: what else should I do at the same time? Share some wisdom & save me some time

Post pics as you’re going. This is next on my list and I’m a little nervous myself. I have an 89 4cyl with exhaust manifold leak 👍

    IAC Sensor

So I had a rough idle at startup but it is much better when the engine is warm. I replaced the idle air control sensor and it fires up amazing from cold, but when it’s warm, it idles at 2000 RPM (obviously way too high). So I’m assuming that’s not the issue but is there anything that can cause...

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

I found a vacuum line not connected on top of my throttle body. I think they go to the TAC sensor from what I have googled, but don’t know where that is located? One line goes into the airbox, the other line is just dangling. Is the TAC sensor also in the airbox?

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

Nevermind, I just saw a video about cleaning the EGR and how to test if it is functioning. Totally understand what you mean about the seat now

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

And when you say the seat gets burnt, are you talking about the gasket? I found those for like $3. A new EGR is like $80 for some reason. Damn 4 cylinder! I was also thinking maybe the idle air control valve could be dirty?

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

I put in platinums, pre-gapped. Bosch isn’t good? I’ve always thought of them as a top tier. I was super careful putting in the plugs and torqued them to the correct spec with a torque wrench. It was idling like this when I got it. I was just hoping to fix it with a tube up

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

Yea, pulling the plugs is next to see if there is any oil or gas on the plugs. Just weird that it stabilizes out after it comes up to maybe 150 degrees or so. Wasn’t sure if any sensors had to “heat up” before things opened or closed and started working differently when warmed up as opposed to...

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

I replaced plugs with Bosch plugs when I did a tube up along with plug wires, new cap and rotor, changed oil and filter and air filter. They all looked ok. Cylinder 2 looked sooty but was dry. These are in order from front to back as they sit, right being the front of the engine block. Inside of...

Rough idle, pulled #4 spark plug no change?

So I bought my buddies 89 2.5L YJ and he said it had a rough idle from just getting the vapor lines replaced recently. Said it didn’t do that before, it only is rough when it’s cold though, it will idle at 500 rpm, then after about 5 mins, picks up to about 800-900rpm and really smoothes out...
