So I had a rough idle at startup but it is much better when the engine is warm. I replaced the idle air control sensor and it fires up amazing from cold, but when it’s warm, it idles at 2000 RPM (obviously way too high).

So I’m assuming that’s not the issue but is there anything that can cause idle issues at cold but not when warm? The Jeep also smells like it’s running rich.

It’s an 89 2.5L YJ

Thanks

Most say If the IAC or TPS is replaced you need to disconnect the battery to allow the ecm to clear its memory and relearn after it driven. Also make sure the IAC seat in the TB is clean and not carboned up so the pintle seats correctly. Personally Ive replaced the IAC and TPS with 3 each different brands, mopar included, done the ecm kill and still I have a 1000 +- rpm idle. Oh well....
