Good evening, first time poster. I've been looking to buy a Jeep for the past couple months mainly for errands and taking my boy to baseball practice and tournaments and maybe let my daughter drive it in 6 years when she is old enough, but for sure to drive my boy to practice and games. My daughter wants one in white and one has popped up for sale. Its a 1991, manual, 6 cyclinders, It looks really clean from the pictures and has rims and 33" tires that I would be happy to have, but it looks to be geared for climbing with 5.11 gearing and lockers. Practice is about 3 miles away from our house and games would be about no more than 15-20 miles away so very rarely would I be on the freeway for long periods of time going about 65mph. Would I have issues with such low gearing? I don't plan on off roading. Thank you.

I’m assuming you meant either 4.11 or 5.13 gears. 5.13 would be a bit deep but wouldn’t cause any issues. 4.11 with 33’s honestly isn’t enough gearing in my opinion…I’d want 4.88, but 4.11 works well enough when options are limited.

If the seller insists on 5.11, ask them to clarify and show proof of some sort because 5.11 isn’t a ratio.

Yeah, thought it was wrong or a typo but it said 5.11 but I’ll ask him. Thank you.

It has a heavy duty Eaton rear axle but I don't know if that changes the gear ratio to 5.11. The front lockers are also always on. I thought about regear it if its too much but idk if i want to put money in it for that. It comes with extra full doors and a hard top that I could sell. Maybe Ill wait a little longer, but once I decide I want something it's hard to hold off. lol.

Lockers can/will make for some weird cornering at times. New drivers/kids/hey watch this !!!!. It sounds like its modified a bit and you may wanna think thing twice about something more stockish. Just my $.02.
