Hello, I’ve got a 94 with the 4.0, haven’t had it long so not sure about it’s history…So it has been running fine with no real noise until I tuned it up and changed the oil, after I did that it started ticking, it will come and go so I can’t really pin it down, checked the plugs and wires and all have good connection, messed with it this morning and it all the sudden stopped for the time being🤷‍♂️….sounds like it’s coming front the front of the engine…..any I sight, I attached a video of it running
 
The TJ is once had was pretty sensitive to oil brands for what ever reason with regard to valve train noise. The worst was castrol 5/30, almost silent was chevron supreme 5/30. It has a whopping 60K on it when I bought it.
