Hi y'all, does anyone else get a vibration between 70-75 mph? I have a 93 YJ 4.0 A/T and when it starts shaking it feels like it's the body/frame shaking not the wheels or suspension because I don't feel it in the steering wheel. If this is just a quirk with YJs or you know what causes it please let me know. Thanks!

There's plenty it could be. Rear tires, wheel(s) packed with mud or out of balance, bent drive shaft, out of balance clutch assembly, bad/gone shackle bushings, to name some. No, shaking isnt a normal part of a YJ.

I'd probably try to focus more on what is actually moving when it shouldn't be. If it feels like the frame is shaking, then I'd imagine it's actually the axles/wheels that are shaking, or the tires causing the axles to shake.

A long time ago I had numerous issues with getting a nasty death wobble that only started if I hit potholes. I never could figure out why, but nothing cured it except for swapping out the junk Synergy ball joints I had in there and putting back in Spicers. So I guess I would say try to figure out where your issue actually is and focus on what controls that.

What are the specs of the jeep? Stock minus the wheels/tires? Kind of hard to tell from the profile pic. Looks close to stock height, but I can't see the springs. And possibly due to the angle of the photo it could be lifted and I just can't tell.

How about we say vibration is one thing and shaking is another to help narrow things down. Vibration like a high speed buzz like a bad U joint or the need to drop the T case after lifting?? Shaking we'll say is what you get from a crappy balanced tire kinda thing.

Definitely a shaking by that definition.

You could have a tire coming apart thats not obvious to look at, or badly out of balance. IIRC you said the steering wheel does not shake when at speeds? Any brake work done recently like new or different drums?
