Hey all, fairly new Jeeper here and I have a 93 Wrangler 4.0, 5 speed. I've read different things on what oil to put in my transfer case. I've read ATF or 80/90 gear oil. I live in Nebraska and it won't be driven much in the winter. Any help is greatly appreciated!

ATF is what the factory calls for. Motor oil ranging from 5W-30 to 10W-30 has been known to be fine though. Apparently ATF can mist and end up with the level getting lower over time. Granted you should keep en eye on it and keep it filled yourself but some don’t do that. I’ll be putting 10w-30 in mine. They also say the motor oil keeps it a bit quieter (I’ll share what I find once I’m driving again) so if that’s the case I could see the motor oil being a slightly better choice possibly. We’ll see soon enough. Working day in and day out to get back on the road now.
