Transfer case identification needed

So, long story short, I purchased a ‘93 YJ a while back and decided to throw a ton of money at it. Have a garage full of parts and decided this was the week to dig in.

Pulled the transfer case and opened it up to install a slip yoke eliminator today. Got everything taken apart and went to transfer the gears from the original shaft to the new one. Here lies the problem. The “seat” on the shaft for the gears on the new shaft is 7mm larger diameter. Checked the box for the kit and the listing where I bought it and it says it’s for my YJ.

Is it possible I actually don’t have an NP 231 like my research said I should? The ID tag is missing from the case.

Any help is appreciated. I was trying to finish the transfer case, lift, and 8.8 swap by the end of next weekend but keep hitting roadblocks. Keeps it entertaining I suppose. Thank you

I may have just found my answer after posting. Apparently I just need to press out the needle bearing sets. Oops. Stressed myself out for nothing possibly.

Either way, glad I could introduce myself with a stress post. Ha. I’m Nick, 42 years young, with an awesome wife who puts up with my crazy ideas and 4 kids.

Yeah…you got it. Gotta hammer out the caged bearings. 1995 and up t-cases came stock without the bearings and the SYE was modeled after that.

Welcome aboard.
